Bubble Science.
Suitable for 8 to 12 year olds.
Come and find out how and why bubbles are made, and blow your own glass bubble which you can take away next day!
Cost £8.00 per child, including a glass bubble.

Every afternoon, 2.00 to 4.00.

Science and the Glass Blower.
Suitable for 11 to 14 year olds.
Learn the secrets of how glass is made, and gain your first experience in blowing and shaping glass. Take away any glass you make the next day!
Cost £10 per child, including any glass made on the course.

ADVANCE BOOKING ONLY!
Places on these courses will be strictly limited, and advance booking and payment is essential. Each child must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Further details will be issued when your application is confirmed.

Our new Workshops are very easy to find; by road from the City Centre or the A4 follow the A38 directions to Bedminster. Our large workshop is located by the Bedminster Car Park. Three hours free parking is available in Hereford Street, 50 yards along the road.

We are just over a mile from Temple Meads Station, and a hundred yards from Bedminster Station. (You can see our workshop from the station platforms.)

Bus Service Nos. 52, 53A, 75, 76, 90, 121, 511, 672, and N6 all stop at Dalby Avenue, beside our Factory. The Bristol Airport Shuttle Bus also passes our door.

We have moved! – Bristol Blue Glass to be made in Bedminster

We are moving our Bristol Blue Glass factory to Bedminster or should I say we are in the process of moving all of our Bristol Blue Glass furnaces and equipment to Bedminster where we will trade Bristol Blue Glass from now on. In fact we are trading Bristol Blue Glass from Bedminster as of this news article, but the official opening day is the 10th of September where we will be seeing the Lord Mayor of Bristol city cutting the tape along with Sherrie Eugene and Dawn Primarolo.

its going to be a fun packed weekend starting off on Friday going on through to Saturday where there will be glass blowing demonstrations, competitions, quizzes, bouncy castles and a BBQ run by the Bristol Athletic club. Then on Sunday Dr Francis Burroughs will be giving hourly talks on the collection of antique glass now on show at our Bristol Blue Glass factory in Bedminster. Also if you have a piece of glass you would like Valued please bring it along and we can give you an accurate value on your Bristol Blue Glass or any other glass item you may have.

3 Days to go!!!

Some of the images below of Bristol Blue Glass furnaces are approximately one week old. We have been melting glass and testing its quality for the new environment. Crystal Glass is quite sensitive when at temperatures exceeding 1450℃. Adjusting fundamental and trace elements of the batch glass is an art form reserved for Meastros. Some even say you are not a glass maker until you can understand the complexities of melting glass.

We are all extremely excited for the future of this company and its long term relationship with Bedminster. Bristol Blue Glass to be made in Bedminster. Exciting times ahead!

We are moving to Bedminster in September

Hi and welcome to a stage by stage insight to our new factory.

The official opening date will be September 10th at 1 O'Clock.

We are pleased to announce that the Lord Mayor of Bristol himself accompanied by Sherrie Eugene will be doing the honours along with the Bristol Evening Post. Dawn Primarolo, the MP for Bristol South is also coming, and local Council Officials. Find out more about Dawn Primarolo here.

On Saturday 11th September we will be having a 'BLUE FUN DAY'. There will be a Barbecue, which will be run by the Bristol Athletic Football Club, who will be coming along in order to raise funds for their teams. This is Sherrie Eugene's special charity, which we are supporting over the week-end. We will have balloons and badges for youngsters, and competitions and quizes during the day.

As the first picture will show a complete empty building and the next will show the complete new electronics and whole new gas line. All of this was completed on Sat 24th July 2010. The next pictures show the delivery of the furnace bricks and also the timber to start the build of our stock room and sandblasting rooms. The guy you can see in one of the pictures is Pete Wheeler, who is our chief engineer. He is working along side Steve Baker our Master Glass Blower who together have designed and will install all the state of the art furnaces etc but more of that later.

Lord Mayors wine glass Collection

Here at Bristol Blue Glass South West we have just completed the production side of a substantial order from the Lord Mayor of Bristol City. The glasses are of great significance to our company but this time they have not been requested to be made in our prestigious
Bristol Blue Glass, but our pure 24% lead crystal. We put our furnace melting cycle onto a specifically high quality program, enabling us to create the most beautifully bright crystal.

The final order consisted of

70 x Red Wine Glasses

70 x Champagne Flutes

70 x Juice Tumblers

We hope they are cherished and live for a long time at the Lord Mayors residence "The Mansion House"

This year, for the first time, we are exhibiting at the Autumn Trade Fair at the National Exhibition Centre at Birmingham, Sunday 6th. September to Wednesday 9th. September and we would be delighted if you are able to join us to see our new range of products , and to browse our latest catalogue. You will find us in Hall 4, Stand A47.

For those of you who are not able to visit us at Birmingham, we would like to welcome you to an Open Afternoon and Evening on Wednesday 16th. September from 2:30. to 9:30 p.m. at our workshop at Fishponds Trading Estate, Bristol and on Friday 18th. September, from 2:30. to 9:30p.m. at our head office, Poole, Wellington. Again our entire range of products will be available, and you will be able to meet all our staff. We would be grateful if you would email us at mail@bristolblueglass.com so we can plan for catering.

In these difficult time, we are always anxious to try and do as much as possible to help our customers, and we would be pleased to discuss with you ideas to help stimulate interest, and more importantly, sales!

Each item comes with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity, so that your customer is assured that each piece is individually hand made in our workshops. An informative leaflet, telling them something of the history of Bristol Blue Glass, and also the working methods of our team of craftsmen is also included. Silver Leaf on Cobalt Bristol Blue Glass Lead Crystal

An absolute beautiful combination. The deep hue created with adding Cobalt to Lead Crystal is purely divine. If there was a colour made for Bristol Blue Glass it has to be the reflective surface of Silver.

We have been experimenting with Sterling Silver Leaf on our Bristol Blue Glass Cobalt crystal. We are starting to make real headway with our technique and once the product reaches the the status of "Absolutely Stunning" we will be soon announcing the release date of this beautifully coloured range.
